Geomove is an initiative of the Belgian NGO Geomoun. The network was built with the participation of the Beninese organisation "Carrefour Jeunesse Afrique" and Togolese "Visions Solidaires". Since 2020, Geomoun is active in protecting and promoting children rights. One of its objectives is particularly to promote children and youth participation right. Carrefour Jeunesse Afrique is an after-school centre created in 2011 and located in the town of Comé in southwest Benin. Concerned about the quality of education given to children, Carrefour Jeunesse's mission is to offer children and young people an alternative education, which does not enter directly into formal education systems such as schools. Visions Solidaires is a Togolese association of popular education for citizenship and active solidarity towards the needy social strata which was created in 2008. It intervenes in particular in the school environment through activities that aim to develop students' civic commitment.
The platform is the result of collaborative work with children and young people. Whether through a graphic competition, a hackathon organised simultaneously in Belgium and Benin or a jury, children and young people took part in the different phases of reflection, development and testing of the platform.
The group of moderators consists of people from different countries who are active with children and young people. Its role is twofold: to validate the initiatives and to reflect on possible improvements to the platform to promote the participation of all children.
